ONE WORLD FESTIVAL OF DOCUMENTARIES ON REFUGEE ISSUES

To celebrate its 30th anniversary and given the current circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the One World Film Festival (OWFF) will be presenting its first online festival of thought-provoking documentaries. The OWFF’s parent organization, One World Arts, is thrilled to be partnering with UNHCR Canada, Amnesty International Canada, CARE Canada and Oxfam Canada in this endeavour. The One World Refugee Film Festival’s program of films and discussions will address a range of issues related to refugees and forced displacement globally, and it will take place over a two-week period from December 1st to 14th, 2020. A pre-festival launch event will take place on November 30th, 2020 with the opening film I Am Rohingya, as a free preview for the festival.

The six programs are “Voices from Syria”, “The Rohingya crisis”, “The Situation of LGBTQI+ refugees”, “Refugees and the climate crisis”, “Canadians speaking out for refugees” and “Memory and the refugees crisis”. Programs will include discussions/interactive elements such as Q&As with filmmakers, webinars or panels.

Ticketing: $30 for full pass to access all content over the duration of the festival, or $10 per ticket for individual programs. To receive a Student/Senior discount, enter code SSPass10OFF to receive $10 off the festival pass and code SSTicket5OFF for $5 off the single program tickets.

The One World Refugee Film Festival will take place virtually across Canada at owrff2020.eventive.org. All proceeds from festival ticket and pass sales will go to charities/foundations chosen by each partner organization.
