One World Arts and Lowertown Community Resource Centre are pleased to invite you to attend our 2013 Awesome Arts Festival!

When: May 24, 6-9pm
Where: York Street Public School, 310 York St. (gymnasium)
What: An evening of FREE performances by the children and youth of Lowertown and an exciting line-up of professional artists such as the amazing Hip Hop crew from Bboyizm, Internationally-renowned beatboxers Julia Dales and Triple A, Ottawa rapper The Joynt and the exciting hip hop poetry group Missing LiNX! Our evening will be Emceed by the talented spoken word poet Jamaal Jackson Rogers.

Awesome Arts is a program of One World Arts, a charity providing global issue awareness through the arts, since 1972. Lowertown Community Resource Centre has been offering a range of social and community services to individuals and families residing in Lowertown since 1970. For the past five years we have been offering the Awesome Arts Program and Festival to Ottawa's youth, a program that raises awareness about global issues through the arts.

2013 Call for Documentary Film and Video Submissions

The One World Film Festival  is currently seeking submissions of documentary films and videos for its 24th edition. 

The OWFF brings together regional and international documentary films and their makers, as well as representatives from a range of NGOs and organizations concerned about global issues and environmental sustainability. The festival will be held in September 2013 in Ottawa.

The Festival is currently seeking submissions of documentaries on topics such as human rights, social justice, globalization, and the environment.  Films of any length created in the past 2 years may be submitted for consideration. There are no submission fees. Screening fees will be paid for all selected films. Ottawa/Gatineau filmmakers are strongly encouraged to send in their work. 

Please include the following information with your submission: contact information/return address, year of production, available formats, running time, language(s), province or country of origin, and premiere status (i.e. has it premiered in Canada, a Canadian city, or internationally).

Preview DVDs can be mailed or *hand-delivered to:

The deadline for submissions is Monday June 3rd, 2013.

* If you are delivering your submission in person, you can leave your package in the mailbox outside the One World Arts office. The building is open between 9am and 5pm (Monday – Friday).

** Email submissions with an Internet link to the work’s online location may also be submitted; however, DVD copies will be required for screening accepted works at the festival in September 2013.
