On the Frontlines of Indigenous Resistance with the Nobel Women’s Initiative and MiningWatch Canada – September 29th

Join One World Arts, the Nobel Women’s Initiative, MiningWatch Canada and MC Nigel Newlove (Nation to Nation, APTN) on September 30th at the Library and Archives of Canada for an evening of documentaries and discussions dedicated to raising awareness about the rights and activism of indigenous peoples in the Americas, specifically Guatemala, Peru and Canada.

The courage and tenacity of the indigenous Maya people of Guatemala shines through in director Dawn Gifford Engle’s beautiful, tragic, and ultimately triumphant story of how one woman, Rigoberta Menchú Tum, recipient of the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize, overcame poverty and violence to become a global defender of human rights.
