The second day of the 2015 festival engaged audiences with more screenings of powerful documentaries and provided a forum for talking about the upcoming federal election in Canada. The festival was thrilled to present The Year We Thought About Love (U.S.A.) and Landfill Harmonic (U.S.A.) and showcase the power of youth to make the world a better place. Both films are inspiring examples of young people overcoming prejudice and hardships and challenging assumptions about who they should be or what they should do in life.
Our Federal Election Candidates Debate on LGBTQ+ issues featured Ottawa Centre candidates Paul Dewar (NDP), Catherine McKenna (LIBERAL), and Tom Milroy (Green Party) addressing issues affecting LGBTQ youth and communities.
The #LGBTQVotes Debate was co-presented by the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, the AIDS Committee of Ottawa, Ten Oaks Project, Gender Mosaic, and *Kind and was moderated by Professor Dawn Moore from Carleton University. Festival attendees also had opportunities to mingle and check out the information tables set-up by our community partners.
The festival was also grateful to have Paramjit Rai from MASC join us as our distinguished MC for the evening.
Memories Restaurant provided us with a warm, welcoming and treat-filled venue for post-festival food, drinks and late night discussions on politics.

Parents are welcome to attend our Saturday afternoon programme of Canadian and indigenous documentary films, while children learn about gardening, make dream catchers, play games, create art, and practice wilderness survival skills in the city. Local E.C.E. teacher Brittanie Goodfellow partners with Roots2Fruits’ (www.roots2fruits.ca) Alister Ogui Auge and Brittany Boychuk to provide a fun day of activities for young creatives aged 5+, as part of the One World Film Festival Youth Programming
