Join One World Arts for a special documentary program co-presentation at the Fall 2017 edition of the Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival on December 8th from 6:00-10:00 PM at the Jock Turcot Alumni Theatre (Jock Turcot University Centre) at the University of Ottawa (85 University Private). In partnership with Digi60 we will be screening two works from the Ottawa Through the Lens of Refugees, Immigrants, and Newcomers project, originally screened at the 2017 One World Film Festival: Hingman Leung’s “Six Voices, One Story” and Spes Ndongozi’s “A Dream of Burundi.”

These screenings will be part of the Digi60 Filmmakers’ Festival’s Doc Night, which will also feature short documentaries created by Digi60 filmmakers centred around the theme of COURAGE and The Match, a documentary by Corey Stanton, M.D., following the stories of a group of over 40 new medical school graduates from the University of Ottawa.

Ottawa Through the Lens of Refugees, Immigrants and Newcomers was a Summer-Fall project delivered by One World Arts that engaged a group of participants from Ottawa’s diverse refugee, immigrant, and newcomer populations in video production.

The project was made possible thanks to funding from the Ottawa Community Foundation and the support of SAW Video, the Ottawa Public Library, Refugee 613, YOCISO and a range of dedicated individuals and organizations. The project was coordinated by A. Sabastien Callender and participants were supported and mentored by Irene Jansen and Hingman Leung.
